I flew into Aspen on Friday. After sitting in airports for 12 hours and flying for 2, I arrived to find my bags had not. Fortunately I had not planned on racing the following day in the Owl Creek Chase. I made it to bed by 11pm.
I watched the race on Saturday with my host mother, Christi and her youngest daughter, Heidi (seen below with pet snake, Ziggy). Before picking up my luggage at the airport.
The week flew by, filled with Valentine card construction with the girls (Heidi and Mackenzie), playing in the snow, visiting Heidi's 4th grade class, watching gymnastics, getting pedicures and eating 5-course meals, visiting baby animals at the ranch and joining the Nordic Wolves, junior ski program in Carbondale (pictured above).
This is me on the BMT trail today in Sun Valley. Look at that sky, it was perfect skiing!
I am home now until Wednesday, when I will fly to Minneapolis for the US Birkebeiner.
Thanks to the Small family for pampering me for a week vacation in Colorado and the Nordic Wolves of Carbondale for letting me join your ski group and share my favorite game on skis (tunnel tag).

Great picture of you Kate. It looks so beautiful out there. How are you enjoying living out there? Glad to hear you're doing the Birkie. Will you be doing classic or freestyle and what distance? Best of luck, I feel you'll do really well :)
