Apr29 Written by:Kate Whitcomb 4/29/2007 4:48 PM
April has been filled with hiking Baldy with borrowed canine friends, cycling, swimming, gym maintenance and relaxation. Sun Valley has been in the 70s for the past few days however there was a closing-season 80s get together to finish out April (photographs below). The 2007-2008 training log starts tomorrow...
These are two of my boys, Rex and Cash (and by "my", I mean not mine..don't worry Mom, I have not gotten a dog).
Nikki Sixx made it to the party, which was sweet.
Yes, we did lay down the cardboard once people started to dance, obviously.
I hope everyone has had a great recovery period and is amped to saddle up. Game on! Tags: 5 comments so far...

Re: April
what is up with this site????? Is FSx going to exist next year? Or is the site just broken? Or is it really just that no one wants to make a single update in the past 4 months? Please some news on the status of the team! Those sponsors better come through or I will be angry and dissapointed and never buy tea, sunglasses, or skis from them again, which should totally devastate their businesses I'm sure...

FSx is changing
Hey Everyone,
FSx is evolving. Some of the sponsors for the team have changed, mainly due to the fact that Fischer is producing a race pole this year. The team will be Fischer/Craft now and their will be a new site launched by Craft (hopefully soon).
Until then, check out my (and Zack's) blog at www.in-the-arena.org
They are not up and running just yet, but will be in the next few days. Teamtoday also has some sweet images from New Zealand. Be sure to check them out.
As far as I am concerned:
The 2007-2008 season has been the most successful to date. Having recently returned from a camp in New Zealand, I am more fit and technically sound than ever before. After the three weeks of on-snow winter training, I am successfully transferring the work accomplished on skis, to my dry-land work. This is a necessary connection to make in order to keep all training focused towards winter goals.
With the poor air conditions in Ketchum, due to the Castle Rock fire, I have temporarily relocated to Park City, Utah. Although it is unfortunate that I am unable to train in my hometown at this time, the repositioning of location has a proven to have a thick silver lining. I have been taken in by a generous family, close to the US Ski Team offices, and have been able to join the Team athletes in their training sessions each day. By training with the US Ski Team, I have access to the coaches as well. Because of this, my workouts have been more successful than ever.
I look forward to training here, in Utah, until the fire is under control and the air quality improves near my home in Idaho. Regardless of location I have my head down, more focus than ever, and am giving it my all every day. The first races are less than three months away and I am ready. This is going to be a great year, game on!
Thanks to Pete, Liz, Mike and the entire USST for taking me in. I have been receiving great hospitality in Park City and my training has not skipped a beat. I would also like to thank my sponsors. I would be tied down to multiple part-time jobs, forced to train in the smoke, if it were not for the financial support of organizations like In The Arena. Thank you. Becoming the best takes more than heart and In The Arena makes my success possible, especially at times like this.
Thank you also, to the Elephant's Perch and Zenergy. They are my employers in the Sun Valley area that give me the freedom to miss work for months at a time.
And thank YOU, for checking this site, for being a fan, for believeing in me. All parts of the puzzle, Thank You!
I will be in touch. Until then, train smart and be well, Kate
